Two world records were set during the competitions: Sergei Alifirenko's 589 in 25 m Rapid Fire Pistol was the best result of the year and hence also world record, as the rules were changed at the turn of the season, and Sergei Martynov achieved the maximum 600 in the qualification round of the Prone position event for a fourth time (although he was unable to retain his two-point lead through the final).
